Awakening (2025)
36″ x 24″ mixed media on canvas

This piece began as an experiment inspired by the joyful and expressive work of Australian artist Kirsten Jackson. After building several initial layers on the canvas, I explored new ways of working with color and form, allowing blocks of color to emerge and interact more freely across the surface.
At the center, a circular form remained from the earlier stages of the painting. As the composition evolved, it began to feel like a quiet portal—an opening that draws the eye inward. Layers of lavender, yellow, green-gold, and blue create depth and movement while maintaining a sense of harmony.
The painting reflects a feeling of awakening and discovery, where layers of experience gradually lead us toward greater clarity and connection within.
Acrylic and gouache were used to build the textures and color relationships throughout the piece.
